Assigning GL Codes to products allows you to link Income/Sales GL accounts to specific products, which will override the default system Income/Sales GL account. More information on default GL accounts and how to set them can be found in the article Accounting Module Preferences: Setup and Overview.
To set up product GL codes, please follow the steps listed below:
- On the Menu Bar navigate to the Activities drop down, then Accounting Related and then the Maintain Product GL Codes button.
- All of your products will appear in the list. Find the product you would like to assign to a GL code, and click into the field under the Income / Revenue GL Account column.
- This field will now display as a drop-down. Select the appropriate GL account from the list. Please note that only GL accounts that have the type Income will appear in the drop-down.
- Repeat as necessary to associate products with the desired GL account.
- Once you have completed this task, you can X out of the window. Your changes will be saved automatically.
At this time the Cost of Goods Sold GL Account functionality has not been implemented, so it can simply be left blank. Accounts with the type Cost of Goods Sold will also appear as options in the drop-downs if they have been entered into FlexiBake
