Designate the Default Database (On Premise Installation)
Set up your FlexiBake environment by choosing the default database for all users in an on-premise installation.
Selecting the correct default database ensures that every user works in the same, live environment. This greatly reduces risk—any changes made in a non-default database will not apply to your live production data.
Warning: Working in a non-default database can lead to confusion and lost data. Always confirm you are connected to your live system.
Preparation
- Permissions: You must have Administrator rights in FlexiBake to complete this workflow.
- When to Use: When starting FlexiBake for the first time, or after moving to a new computer/server.
Risks and Indicators
- Pop-up Warning: If you’re logged into a non-default database, FlexiBake will warn you immediately after login.
- Visual Cue: The Open Windows panel on the left will turn orange to indicate that you are not in the default database.
Setting the Default Database
Step 1
Log in to FlexiBake as a user with Administrator permissions.
Step 2
On the top menu bar, go to Administration and select FlexiBake Preferences.
Step 3
At the top of the FlexiBake Preferences window, locate the Database field. This displays the path to your current default database. For new installations, this will often indicate that you’re using the Sample Database.
Step 4
Click Browse to open a file window and locate the database file you want to use as your default.

Tip: Always choose a location accessible to all users/machines who will use FlexiBake.
Step 5
Once you’ve entered the path, click OK to save and close Preferences.
Step 6
FlexiBake will prompt you to restart the program for your changes to take effect. Click OK on the pop-up.
Step 7
Close out of FlexiBake Preferences and log out of FlexiBake completely.
Step 8
When you or any other user logs in again, FlexiBake will open the newly selected default database automatically.
Warning: Confirm all users are pointed to the correct (live) default database before entering any live data.
