Designate the Default Database (On Premise Installation)

This tutorial requires Administrator permissions to complete. If you do not have access to the Admin user or your user does not have administrator permissions, please reach out to the main FlexiBake user to continue.

If you're getting started for the first time, or setting up a new computer to connect to your FlexiBake, one of the first things you'll want to do is let the program know where you're going to be working the majority of the time by setting the default database. This guide will take you through how to set a new default database on an on-premise installation of FlexiBake.

Working in a non-default database can be risky as it makes it difficult to ensure all users are working in the same place. Your default database should be the one containing your live data. Changes made in a non-default database will not apply to your live database.

A warning pop-up will appear after login, letting you know you're working in a non-default database:

The Open Windows box in the left navigator bar will also turn orange to indicate that you're working in a non-default database:

  1. Log into FlexiBake with a user that has Administrator access.

  2. In the upper menu bar, click on Administration, and then select FlexiBake Preferences.

  3.  In the FlexiBake Preferences window, along the very top there is the Database box. This indicates the path to the current default database.  For a new Installation, this will be blank, but the database is the Sample Database. mceclip0.png

  4. If you know the path to the database you'd like to set as the default, you can paste it into the Database box.

  5. Otherwise, you can click on the Browse button to open up a window you can use to locate the database you'd like to set as default

Please ensure that the database is stored where it is accessible to all users/machines that will be using FlexiBake.

  6. Once you've entered the location of your desired default database, click OK to save the changes. The program will display a pop-up to indicate the program will need to be re-opened for the change to be reflected. Click OK to continue.

  7. You may now close FlexiBake Preferences and log out of FlexiBake. The next time you or another user logs in, the program will open the selected database automatically.
