Enter the Specific Gravity of a Raw Material

Learn how to enter the specific gravity for a raw material in FlexiBake. This ensures that volume-based ingredients are converted into accurate weights.

Specific gravity is used in FlexiBake to convert volume-based units to weights, which helps maintain consistency in nutritional labeling, recipe costing, and production tracking. By default, FlexiBake sets the specific gravity to 1. You should update this value for accurate handling of liquids, especially if the ingredient’s true specific gravity differs from water.

Entering a Known Specific Gravity

If you already know the specific gravity of a raw material, you can simply enter it in manually using the following steps:

Step 1:
Navigate to the Inventory Centre then click the Raw Materials button.

Step 2:

Find the raw material you want to update. Double-click the item or select it and click Edit at the bottom of the screen.

If Specific Gravity Is Unknown

If you do not know the specific gravity of a raw material, FlexiBake can calculate it for you:

Step 1:

Follow steps 1 and 2 from the previous list.

Step 2:

Click on Specific Gravity.
