Mark a Product as an Inventory Item

Mark a Product as an Inventory Item when you want FlexiBake to track finished product quantities on hand in inventory. This is useful for products you keep in stock, count regularly, adjust through inventory tools, or use in shipping and inventory workflows.

Overview

What marking a product as an inventory item does

When a product is marked as an inventory item, FlexiBake treats it as a stock-tracked finished good. This allows the product to appear more naturally in inventory adjustment workflows and helps you keep track of product quantities on hand.

Why this matters

Marking a product as an inventory item is helpful when:

  • You keep finished goods in stock.
  • You want to adjust product inventory on hand through IA Slip workflows.
  • You want inventory tools or reports to display the product without needing to include non-inventory items.
  • You need better visibility into available stock for shipping and inventory management.

Before You Begin

Confirm the product should be stock tracked

Before marking a product as an inventory item, confirm the product is something you intend to keep in inventory and count on hand.

Common examples include:

  • Finished goods stored for future shipment
  • Frozen or packaged products held in stock
  • Products you want to count, adjust, or review through inventory processes

Note: Not every product needs to be marked as an inventory item. This setting is most useful for products you want FlexiBake to treat as stocked inventory.

What Changes After You Mark It

Inventory adjustment behavior

Once the product is marked as an inventory item, it can appear in inventory adjustment workflows without requiring the Display Non-Inventory items as well option.

Inventory visibility

Marking the product as an inventory item helps FlexiBake treat it as a tracked stock item, making it easier to monitor quantities and work with product inventory more consistently across inventory tools.

Tip: If you plan to count, adjust, or track a product on hand, mark it as an inventory item before relying on inventory tools for that record.

Troubleshooting

The product does not appear on a New IA Slip

If a product is not appearing on a New IA Slip screen, one possible cause is that it is not marked as an inventory item.

You can either:

  • Mark the product as an inventory item, or
  • Check Display Non-Inventory items as well when working in the IA Slip screen.
The product is still not visible

If the product still does not appear where expected, confirm you are viewing Products in the Type drop-down and that Adjust Inventory On Hand is selected. If problems persist please reach out to FlexiBake Support.

Tip: Include the product name, screenshots of the product record, and the IA Slip screen when reporting the issue.
