If you sell items that are sliced before being packaged, you can attach slicing instructions to the product profile. Slicing instruction are completely user-defined, so you can customize them based on your needs and products.
We recommend setting your unsliced item as a base product, especially if the same item is sold in multiple types of slicing styles, such as Texas-sliced and regular-sliced whole wheat bread. More information on base products and how to set them is available in Set a Base Product.
To add slicing instructions:
- Navigate to Inventory Centre then the Maintain Products button.
- Highlight the Product and double click or click Edit on the bottom left corner.
- Select the Production tab.
- From the Slicing Instr. drop-down, select the appropriate Slicing Instructions.
If the slicing style you require is not listed you can add a new one:
- Click the
button next to the Slicing Instr. drop-down
- In the pop-up, click New
- In the new pop-up, add a Description in the field, then click OK to save.
- You can now select you new slicing instructions in the list and click OK to close the pop-up. The field in the Production tab will auto-populate with your selection. Alternatively, you can close the pop-up and select your new slicing instructions direct from the drop-down.
- Click the
- Click OK to save.
The list of slicing instructions is not exclusive to one product, so you only add an entry once to have it accessible to all products.
