Set a Base Product

A base product is the item that must be made to produce the sell-by unit. So if you sell multigrain bread sliced in a variety of ways, your unsliced loaf would be the base product. Or, if you sell a cupcakes in single, 4-, 6- and 12-packs, the base product would be a single cupcake.

Setting up your products this way allows FlexiBake to streamline the production process for you by focusing on the base product until it is processed into the different sell-by units. Taking again the example of multigrain bread, it is more efficient to make all the dough at once, bake all the loaves together, then slice them in the various ways required, rather than making a batch separately for each slicing variety.

When using Base Products, we suggest trying the Base Product on Order, or Base Product by Route reports which display the total number of base product required per day/route to meet order requirements.
