Version 2019.009
December 13th, 2019
Here at FlexiBake, we decided that we needed to close out the year, and the decade, with some panache by releasing a humongous update! This new version brings with it a ton of new features and improvements, so many that we aren't sure which is our favourite.
New Improvements:
- Dear fellow Canadians, can I get a "CFI-yay!"? The new CFIA nutritional functionality is complete!! We've included 3 of the new Nutrition Facts tables in this update to whet your appetite. More will be releasing in an upcoming update in the near future, so keep your eyes peeled.
- Along with the new panels come some new regulations on sugars and ingredients statements. Please see our article Group Ingredients with Sugars to find out how FlexiBake can help you stay compliant.
- Save time while managing your time: Our new recipe lead time feature gives you the option to have FlexiBake take care of scheduling recipes required to make a product. Instructions on setting up and using this feature can found in Recipe Lead Times.
- Take full control of your production sequence using our new arrow buttons. You can order and re-order a day's production to your heart's content.
- Scheduling production can make you feel like Goldilocks. We've added code to sum up the batch times as products are scheduled to help you find that not-too-much, not-too-little, just right number of production hours.
- The batch time field for products has made the made the trek to its new home in the Ingredients tab!
- If you have some needy products that require constant attention, you can set your labour time to be the same as your batch time in the product's Ingredients tab. Please see Batch Time = Labour Time for more information.
- Making some changes in Schedule Production before you finish closing production items? Closed production items will now be highlighted in green in the scheduling screen.
- Can't decide if standing orders or shadow orders are a better fit? No problem, you can take the best of both worlds by enabling the new Zero Quantity feature for standing orders! Check out the tutorial: Zero Quantities for Standing Sales Orders..
- Speaking of standing orders, we've spiffied up the Maintain Standing Orders screen to give your scroll wheel a rest: You can now add a new product to the order using the name or code! And if you're looking for something specific in a existing standing order? Start typing the name or code into the slick new search bar to jump to the nearest match.
- We heard you, loud and clear: let the customers do some of the work for a change. Customers using the Online Ordering Portal can now be given to option to add more products onto their standing order through the portal.
- Everybody loves a deal, and (almost) nobody likes math! Managing sales promotions in FlexiBake is even easier with our newly updated Deal Pricing, which now allows you to add a deal price as an alternative to the original discount percentage and discount amount.
- Our shiny new Promotion Pricing allows you to manage deals for multiple products AND multiple customers, all at once and all in one place. Learn how to use it here: Add New Promotional Pricing.
- Added Proforma-nce! Create a Proforma invoice by opening a sales order and clicking on the new Proforma Inv. button. Instructions can be found in our article Generate a Proforma Invoice.
- Send them out...: Purchase Orders can now be exported from FlexiBake to a CSV while they're open, in case you want to get a jump on your accounting.
- ...And bring 'em in: Receiving slip items can now be imported from a CSV file. Have a look at Import Receiving Slip Items for a nifty how-to!
- There's a new addition to the recipe Formula grid: the Total Baker's % column! This column will display the Baker's Percentage across all sub-recipes and ingredients which lead into the current recipe.
- Curious where that number comes from? Double click on the Total Baker's % column heading to open up a breakdown of the Baker's Percentage through each sub-recipe.
- Products decided to steal a move from recipes: you can now adjust the product batch size and ingredients required for a batch simultaneously with the handy new Resize button. Learn how in our tutorial Resize a Product.
- It never hurts to ask: FlexiBake will now ask if you would like to print bagging labels when printing the packing list for a sales order.
- We've added a bunch of new fields and filter options all over FlexiBake:
- It's better to be safe than sorry; track supplier HACCP certifications and expiry dates in the supplier profile. When the certificate expires, FlexiBake will show an alert in the Company window.
- Check out our new layout for Production Centre reports! It cleans up real well, don't you think?
- The Production Centre grid now has the option to filter by production line
- The new search bar in the Payments window lets you look up the invoice number
- Printing Route Documents in style: The Print Route Docs screen was feeling stuck in a rut, so we gave it a little makeover! You can now also filter by Distribution method to give you more control over who you're printing documents for.
- You can now filter Packing Labels by Distribution type and Route. Filters are now saveable, no more spending time re-entering the same settings!
- Make sure they get the memo with the new notes field for credit note line items. The contents of this field will appear on the credit note, so keep it sweet!
- No need to read through piles of pages, unless you want to of course: we added a date range to the Account History report on customer Account tab to help narrow things down.
- We've also added a number of new options in FlexiBake Preferences:
- Enable the "Automatically adjust the lot number of items dragged to a different production date in the Schedule Production window" option in the Production tab to have FlexiBake adjust the batch code/lot number of a production item to match the date that it is being produced instead of the date that it was initially added to Schedule Production. Just like the name says.
- Love PDFs but don't love the export process? Enable the new Present Reports in PDF Format option (in the General Tab) to have your reports automatically display as a PDF file. Printing directly from a PDF can also result in improved print quality. This is not available for reports with an adjustable date range in the preview.
- Master Accounts no longer need to feel left out; you can now set a custom consolidated statement style in the Billing tab. Custom statement not included, but our support team can make one special just for you!
- Purchase order items can now be selected by by internal code as well as supplier code. Just toggle the "Select P.O. line items with supplier codes rather than FlexiBake raw material codes" option on or off to your preference in the Production tab.
Bug Fixes
- FlexiBake was slacking when importing IA slips by not calculating default units. We've taken it to task and it's doing the math now!
- After an intense training regimen, FlexiBake is ready to run faster and better when entering and applying credit notes.
- Credit notes that were generated through returns thought they were exempt from exchange rates. We've set the record straight, and they're converting properly.
- Credit notes generated by the DSD application were being stubborn and not wanting to unapply, causing out of balance issues. We've taught them that it's healthy to let things go, so your accounts will remain balanced.
- The Generate Bagging Labels printer-drop down was ignoring the available printers. We made them talk it out, and they're communicating again.
- A spiteful bug was causing contact and discount details to be overwritten when importing sales orders. We squashed the bug and that information is safe and sound.
- Several enhancements to the EDI exports to correctly handle Customer/Product overrides and FTP exports from the Cloud.
- We have to go back, Marty! You can time travel again now that we fixed a bug that was causing FlexiBake to fail when looking at previous recipe versions.
- FlexiBake was panicking and aborting the accounting exports if GL Accounts had not been defined. We sent it to the meditation room, it had some time to chill and so it won't abort anymore!
