Create a Product

Products are one of the two necessary components required to use FlexiBake, the other being customers. A product is the sliced, decorated, finished and/or packaged item that you provide to your clients. As a rule, if the products have different SKUs they will need to be separate products in the FlexiBake system; for example, you may sell multigrain bread as unsliced loaves, standard sliced loaves and Texas-sliced loaves, which would be 3 different products.

To create a product:

  1. Navigate to the Inventory Centre then click the New Product button.
                                                 
  2. Enter in a Code for the product.
                   
  3. Enter in a Name for the product.
                   
  4. Select a product Category from the drop-down.

    • A new category may be created by clicking the Category button then clicking New, entering a name for the category and clicking OK.
                                       
  5. Select the Sell By Units from the drop-down.
                     
    • To add a new Sell-by unit, click the , then in the pop-up window click New in the bottom left corner.
                              
    • Add in a Description, Abbreviation, Type and Factor. The Factor is the conversion to the base unit of the selected type. For Sell-by units like box, we recommend leaving the Type set to User, which removes the Factor field.
                              
    • Click OK to save the new unit.                                                                                                                     
  6. Enter the Pack Size and Description for the product, this is how many would appear per unit: Example a cheesecake may have 1 Cheesecake per box.

    • Descriptions are saved and can be re-selected by using the down arrow.

  7. Enter a Standard Price for one unit of the product. This should be the primary selling price for the product which can be further defined by customer through Price Tiers.


  8. Click OK to save.

To help speed up the product entry process, if you have products that are similar, you can clone a product then simply make changes. This minimizes the amount of data you need to enter for the new product. Instructions on how to do this can be found in Clone a Product.

If you plan to use FlexiBake's inventory or production capabilities, you'll likely need to make recipes, instructions on doing this can be found in Create a Recipe. Once you have recipes, you can link them into products by following the steps listed in Link a Recipe to a Product.
